Autograph letter by Walter Severn to Lord Houghton
Wasse and Franz subscriptions for Severn tomb. Palgrave suggests a cross. Wasse suggests a bass relief of Houghton’s account of Joseph Severn attendance on John Keats, or dying in the arms of his friend. Suggests last words of Preface to Adonais as part of the inscription. Asks if Houghton has Shelley’s letter and the first copy of the Pisa Adonais that were sent to Joseph Severn. Asks if anything is known about the letter from Byron to Joseph Severn asking to borrow the book. P.S.: WS brother killed in accident in 1836 buried next to Keats, no stone on the grave so would like to mention his name on JS tomb. Wordsworth was present at his christening and drank his health in a Silver which WS has. A publisher wants to publish Adonais in same form as WS edition; with JS illustrations.
